What if the beef is tough?

If you intentionally bought a shoulder blade, neck or shank, the savings are quite understandable, but such beef is a must prepare for cookingso that it is not rigid. If you are not sure about the type and part of the beef, simply examine it. Are there tough veins, thick bones and fat? - Such beef should also be softened before cooking. But if the meat without these, most likely, even without preparation, the meat will turn out to be very soft, you can immediately cook it, even for soup, even for a salad.

General advice - if you are in doubt about the future tenderness of meat, just marinate it in kiwi for half an hour, kiwi has a high softening ability.
