What is the difference between fruit drink and compote?

Reading time - 3 minutes.
compote in a jar
Fruit drink and compote - these drinks have literally been registered on our table since childhood. Both drinks have a similar taste, but are radically different in the recipe.

Morse - fresh berries are crushed and poured with boiling water. Only here is the nuance - not all berries are juicy, therefore, fruit drink along with berries has to be cooked and sometimes for a long time. Boiling allows you to soften the berry and increase the concentration of the finished drink. Compote is a completely different matter.

Compotes are a boiled preparation of a drink for the winter. Fruits and berries are boiled in syrup and rolled into sterilized jars. That is, if boiling is necessary for compote, then boiling is not always necessary for fruit drinks and in a minimum amount. Hence the difference in shelf life - compotes are stored for years in pantries and cellars, and fruit drinks, if they have not been cooked, - only a few hours, fruit drinks are cooked for 1 to maximum 2 meals. If there are few berries, prepare fruit drink, and if a whole bucket - compote. There are more benefits in fruit drink than in compote, because heat treatment is minimal. Honey is also added to the fruit drink - thus its benefits increase.
