5 principles of satiety in a hostel

Reading time - 5 minutes.
how to survive in a dorm
1. Use the seasonality of the products.
In autumn, they are inexpensive and have excellent quality zucchini, eggplants, cucumbers and tomatoes, you can safely buy apples and pears. October is pumpkin season - use this for wallet savings and health benefits. Of course, you won't be able to buy for the entire course due to the presence of neighbors, but a healthy attitude to cooking will definitely add advantages to your karma and thriftiness.

2. Have a strategic headroom.
As you know, no one knows when a student will run out of money, so a strategic "NZ" (editor's note: NZ - for a reserve) will never hurt anyone. Due to the low prices for cereals and pasta, you can buy at least six months in advance. Buy products that do not deteriorate for a long time under room conditions. These products include, firstly, cereals, the shelf life of which reaches a year or more. From budget rice, barley, buckwheat, peas, lentils, and to the noble expensive bulgur, quinoa, dolichos, cereals are stored from six months to several years. These products include pasta, and all types of canned food, and many sweets, and salt and sugar. This also includes spices. By the way, rice with properly selected spices can be tastier than meat. To make sure of the long shelf life, carefully study the text on the package - 2 dates must be indicated: the production date and the expiration date. If the shelf life is more than a year - great, you can take it. Potatoes, onions, carrots and beets bought at the end of October for a penny can be stored at cool temperatures until December.

3. Treat.
Especially if asked. Today your neighbor needs help - and tomorrow you or your other neighbor will certainly need help. Cook pasta - ask good friends if they would like to have dinner with you. Of course, not everyone will answer you with the same culinary hospitality, but someone will invite you to a party, someone will lend money, and someone will give you an important summary. Do not waste your supplies, but remember: the student days "in tight quarters, but not in offense" will fully end when everyone scatters to work and get married. It is important that the tightness goes away and the friends stay.

4. Keep a budget.
Make a small grocery budget. You can start from the prices indicated on the sites of online hypermarkets, which, as a rule, do not inflate prices much. Maintaining such a file may seem pointless at first, but later you will realize that maintaining it helps save money on more important things than the actual food. For example, for dinner at a restaurant with a friend. Joke. Or not a joke. In general, if it takes half an hour a month to maintain a budget file, everything is in order. If more - it seems that you are bothering too much.

5. Life boat.
Have your own cooking utensils. Moreover, it is better to have utensils that are not killed, because from the principles of hospitality, most likely, you will have to borrow it - and not once. At a minimum, you need an aluminum saucepan, a cast iron skillet, a large plastic board, all-metal cutlery and accessories. Inexpensive sets of glasses and plates - one hundred karma each.
